# Deposit

A deposit moves **public tokens into VOID** and creates a **private note**.

Supported on Robinhood Chain Testnet:

* **tUSDG**
* **WETH**
* **VOID**

You can get tUSDG from the faucet. VOID is not available from the faucet; get it with **Private Buy**.

{% hint style="info" %}
The legacy test VEIL token is **retired**. It can no longer be deposited or traded.

Existing private notes holding legacy test VEIL can still be withdrawn: the pool contract still accepts withdrawals of retired assets.

Testnet tokens have no monetary value, and testnet VOID is not the future mainnet VOID token.
{% endhint %}

### Deposit Steps

1. Connect your wallet.
2. Open **Deposit**.
3. Select the token and amount.
4. Approve the token if prompted. This is usually a one-time transaction per token.
5. Confirm the deposit.

Once the transaction is indexed, the new note appears in your **private balance**.

### Privacy Starts After Deposit

{% hint style="warning" %}
The deposit itself is a normal **public on-chain transaction**.
{% endhint %}

Anyone can see:

* your wallet address
* the token
* the amount deposited

Privacy begins **after the deposit**, once the funds are represented as a private note inside VOID.

### Fees

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Network Gas</strong></td><td>Paid by your wallet for token approval and the deposit transaction.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>VOID Deposit Fee</strong></td><td>None on testnet.</td></tr></tbody></table>

### Limits

#### VOID

VOID uses **6 decimals**.

A single private note can hold approximately **18.4 trillion tokens**, which is above the total planned mainnet VOID supply.

In practice, there is no meaningful per-note limit for VOID.

#### USDG

{% hint style="warning" %}
USDG can be frozen by its issuer.

Because USDG deposited into VOID is held inside the VOID contract, an issuer-level freeze could affect those funds.
{% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://void-protocol-2.gitbook.io/void-protocol-docs/user-guide/deposit.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
