# Private Send

Private Send moves value from your **private balance** to another VOID user.

### Steps

1. Connect your wallet and unlock your private balance.
2. Open **Private Send**.
3. Paste the receiver's **VOID address**, shown as **Your VOID address** on their Receive screen. A normal wallet address will not work.
4. Select the token and amount.
5. Confirm. VOID builds the proof using the hosted proof service, and the **VOID relayer submits the transaction**.

{% hint style="info" %}
On testnet, Private Send is submitted by the VOID relayer, which pays the gas and appears as the on-chain sender instead of your wallet. The amount, asset and recipient stay hidden.

If the relayer is unavailable, the app says so and offers a clearly labelled option to submit from your own wallet instead, which pays the ETH gas and appears as the on-chain sender.
{% endhint %}

### What the Receiver Gets

The receiver gets a **new encrypted note** that only they can open.

It appears in their private balance after the indexer syncs.

### What the Chain Checks

The chain verifies that:

* you own valid, unspent notes
* the notes have not already been spent
* the output notes balance correctly
* the proof matches its public inputs

{% hint style="info" %}
Nullifiers are recorded when notes are spent, preventing the same note from being used twice.
{% endhint %}

### Fees

<table data-view="cards"><thead><tr><th></th><th></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td><strong>Network Gas</strong></td><td>None for you. The VOID relayer pays it on testnet. If you choose to submit from your own wallet instead, your wallet pays it in ETH.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Relayer Gas</strong></td><td>Paid by the VOID relayer on testnet.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>Relay Fee</strong></td><td>None.</td></tr><tr><td><strong>VOID Send Fee</strong></td><td>None.</td></tr></tbody></table>

### What Is Public

The chain can see:

* that a private transfer occurred
* new commitments
* new nullifiers
* the **VOID relayer** as the on-chain sender (or your wallet, if you choose to submit from it)

{% hint style="success" %}
The chain does **not** reveal:

* the transferred amount
* the asset sent
* the recipient
* the sender's private notes
* the receiver's private notes
* the direct sender-recipient relationship
  {% endhint %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://void-protocol-2.gitbook.io/void-protocol-docs/user-guide/private-send.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
